Nehemiah 5

7 After thinking it over, I spoke out against these nobles and officials. I told them, “You are hurting your own relatives by charging interest when they borrow money!” Then I called a public meeting to deal with the problem. - NLT

The passage of S5E4 (Neh. 5:1-7) shows that leaders must be hands-on in tackling issues that would make others suffer. Nehemiah acted in verse 7 quoted above, to stop men from preying on fellow men. This is contrary to what some leaders of today will do. Today, some leaders will duck and dive while others will elevate “analysis paralysis” to new heights with meaningless recurring meetings that do nothing but destroy the morale of others naïve enough to become victims. Nothing exposes Christianity more to reproach than the indifference to the plight of people around us. All leaders must learn from Nehemiah. When called upon by God, we must be hands-on, compassionate, and decisive in destroying the evil that men do.
